XTown Hosts First Electric MX Race in Quebec

XTown Hosts First Electric MX Race in Quebec

On Saturday, Oct. 15, the first-ever electric moto race was held in Quebec. The Surron Light Bee exhibition race was held at XTown, a motocross facility located one hour north of Montreal.

In addition to the race, demo rides were available courtesy of local dealer Goulet Moto. With excellent weather for mid-October in Quebec, the turnout at Xtown was impressive and the demo circuit was busy all day.

Bringing an extra level of excitement to the race was the appearance of Canadian Superbike Championship racers Samuel Guerin and Guillaume Fortin. After some exciting heat races, both riders made it through to the finals where Guerin let the lead slip away after a fall. Fortin took the win, with youth rider Samuel Martorana finishing 2nd and Guerin 3rd.

The Surron Light Bee X is gaining popularity with racers looking for different ways to train and stay active. The lack of noise and emissions gives racers more places to ride. Recent 2022 CSBK Champion Ben Young recently purchased a Light Bee X as a way to stay active and ride with friends who are also Light Bee owners.

Light Bee electric racing has caught on in Canada thanks to exhibition races in British Columbia, Ontario and Quebec. The BC-based Future West Arenacross Championship series is hosting a Surron emoto race running between now and December, and more definitive plans are in the works for 2023 in both the US and Canada.
